What Is Actually Involved
In-ground nests are the ones that catch people out, because there is nothing to see until you are standing on top of it. European wasps readily take over an old rodent burrow, a cavity under a shed or retaining wall, or a soft garden bed, and by late summer that nest can hold thousands of workers a few centimetres below the surface.
The classic Melbourne injury is running a mower or whipper-snipper over an unseen entrance in January. The vibration alone is enough to bring the colony out defending, and because they sting repeatedly a single incident can mean twenty or more stings. If you have found the hole, flag it from a distance, keep mowers and children well away, and leave it completely alone until we attend – usually at dusk, when almost the whole colony is home.
What Wasp Removal Costs In Melbourne
Three things move the number: where the nest is, how high up it is, and how big it has grown. Nothing else — and never how worried you sounded on the phone.

Four Steps, One Price
You know the cost before step three.
Tell Us What You See
Where the wasps are going, roughly how many, and how high up. That is usually enough for a firm price over the phone.
Upfront Quotes
You approve a written price before anyone is dispatched.
Treat At The Source
The nest or entry point is treated directly so workers carry the product inside and the colony dies, rather than relocating.
Check And Warrant
We confirm the nest is dead, remove it where that is safe, and back it with a 6-month warranty. If it comes back, so do we.
Six Months On Every Nest. Five Percent Off Any Written Quote.
Every nest we treat carries a 6-month warranty. If there is still activity at that nest, we come back and deal with it at no charge — because a treatment that only knocked down the workers has not done the job.
Holding a written like-for-like quote from another licensed Melbourne operator? We will beat it by 5%.
Warranty covers the nest we treated. A new nest built elsewhere on the property later in the season is a separate job. Price-beat applies to written quotes for equivalent scope.Questions About Underground Nests
Not sure whether it is wasps or bees? Describe what you can see when you call and we will tell you, free of charge.
How do I know it is underground and not somewhere else?
Watch from a safe distance for a minute. A steady stream of wasps in and out of one point at ground level – a hole in the lawn, a gap under a shed, a crack in a retaining wall – means the nest is below.
Why do you treat at dusk?
Because nearly the whole colony is back in the nest by then, including the foragers. Treating when the maximum number of workers is inside gives the fastest, most complete result.
Do you dig the nest out?
No, and you should not either. Once the colony is dead the nest breaks down naturally and will not be reused. Excavating a nest is unnecessary work and risks disturbing survivors.
Can I pour petrol or boiling water down the hole?
Please do not. Burning fuel in soil is dangerous and illegal, boiling water rarely reaches the brood chamber, and both provoke a full defensive response from a colony that is right at your feet.
What does it cost?
From $249. Nest size, depth and how close it sits to paths, play areas or a pool can move the price, and you are told the figure before we travel.
